Vol. 2, Issue 2
Summer 2021
Kids are back in school here in Indiana, and people are already drinking PSLs with reckless abandon.* Technically speaking, however, summer goes all the way to late September (so this can still be called the Summer Newsletter). At SYH we are stubbornly holding onto the sunshine while we can, soaking it up to help us stomach all the head-shaking news coming at us daily, it seems, from around the globe and right here at home. One foot in front of the other, folks. Deep breaths. Mask up. We're in this together.
*Our teens keep us abreast of all the lingo. Hats off to you if you know this one!
Finished Projects!
In case you missed our unveiling of the first two projects we've photographed since before Covid, check out these gems. Both are kitchen "and then some" renovations, but they couldn't be more different. We won't be confined to a single style! Every home and homeowner is unique. More photos of both can be found on our website.

What We've Been Digging: Stalking Real Estate
You know you're not the only one with an obsession when SNL makes a skit about it. Every day a new listing, begging to be fixed up and given new life. At SYH we always hope that whoever does buy the house we're all drooling over will call us to help them make it feel like home. Our local favorite site is Homefinder, of course. Our non-local favorites are Circa Old Houses and Zillow Gone Wild, which has the classic, "wait for it" thrill, often leading to something pretty weird, crazy, or funny or all of the above!
Local Vendor Spotlight: Heitink
Okay, this is a slightly different than normal spotlight, as it's a business-to-business company. But we figure we share this because it's fun to share cool things that come out of Bloomington!
Heitink is a wood veneer company. They have supplied wood veneers to well-known places from the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center to the Dimension Mill right here in downtown Bloomington. And a project of ours as well. Soon, at one of our midcentury projects, walls and cabinets will be covered with a fantastic veneer from Heitink.
Project on the Horizon?
If you have a new build, renovation, and/or decorating project on the horizon, call us sooner than you think you need us please! We want to work with you! But we've still got a waitlist.
Initial consultations happen within a few weeks of your call, during which Susan meets with you to see your space, hear all your hopes and hangups, and offer off-the-cuff feedback and advice to help you determine next steps. If the next step for you is comprehensive design services, we pencil you in and launch your project as soon as your name rises to the top.
