OUR DESIGN PROCESS
Think of our process like a really well-planned road trip. It all starts with an Initial Consultation, which is essentially your design discovery session. Susan will spend 90 minutes delving into your dreams, your space, and your challenges. No question is too big or too small. In Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Central Indiana, we like to meet live and in person, if we can, standing in your space or on your property with you. For projects farther afield, we can do this meeting virtually.
Next, we move into Schematic Design, where we draw the map. We create preliminary drawings, 3d models, palettes and rough estimates to ensure that we are meeting your program and making you excited about the possibilities. From there, we progress to Conceptual Design, where we plot the route. We fill in 3d models and plans with color and finishes, add electric and revisit the estimates to make sure we’re financially on track with the developed concept. This phase can take 2-4 months of collaborative magic.
Once you thumbs up the Concept, we can fine-tune it and fill in specifics: that happens in Design Development. We nail down every detail, specifying all fixtures, finishes, furniture and decor. This takes roughly (depending on the size and complexity of the project) another 2-4 months of design love.
Finally, we hit the road: Construction Oversight, Procurement, Product Receipt and Installation. Months of conceptualizing and planning become reality. We tick off the miles, keep the gas tank full, and tip the room service. We pivot when conditions call for it, staying true to the program, budget and design intent. For nearby projects in Bloomington, we are on-site at least weekly; for projects in Indianapolis and farther afield across Indiana, we have contractors on speed dial, FaceTime and Zoom a lot and visit project sites at strategic points. We don't consider the trip complete until you're home, happy and settled.
