Offices & libraries

designed to WORK as hard as you do

We see a home office, like the kitchen or laundry room, as a space we really, really need to get right: the lighting and color and layout has to work so well you are compelled to be there, even if working, washing dishes or folding socks isn’t where your heart yearns to be. Whether it’s a tucked-away workspace, a multi-purpose room for bills and crafting, a light-filled studio, or a book-lined library, what we know is that a well-designed space makes you work, think, and create better.

When it comes to home offices, we start by understanding how you work. Does your work require space to spread out? Do you need to leave projects out, or do you breathe easier when things are tidy and tucked away? Do you take calls all day or need a zoom background that tells a story?  Do you carve out quiet hours to make   or write, or do you need a sound system that supports your process? We design offices that balance function and flow, incorporating natural light, built-ins, and storage that make sense for your day-to-day.

Libraries and reading rooms get the same careful attention. From cozy nooks to formal studies, these spaces invite you to slow down and engage. We love to  start with floor-to-ceiling shelving to anchor the room, then layer in warm lighting, comfortable seating, and personalized details that reflect both your collection and your personality.

The beauty of a home-based work space is that it can be blended with other rooms and functions: a desk backed by a library wall, a reading chair that overlooks the garden, an art annex adjacent to laundry for cleaning up, or a playroom for keeping one eye on your other job–the kids.. In our Westside Understory project, we designed custom shelving around a big window and dedicated nook for a stand-up desk. In A Good Vintage, the office suite includes a room with a desk connected by a powder room to the perfect library: custom shelves, a tv and sound system, a big round table with wingback chairs, and a sofa nook. And in Midcentury Marvel, the office includes a day bed for napping, a custom closet for tech and paper storage, and a picture window onto the courtyard.

Whether you're launching a business, managing family life, or simply carving out time for yourself, we create office spaces that reflect your routines and elevate your everyday.
