Bobby Who?

Before: Our clients lived for years in the former west Bloomington home of Bobby Knight, the famous (or infamous) championship-winning IU basketball coach. And for years, they left his office, a big square room on the far side of the garage, largely unchanged. When we found it, we loved the vaulted ceiling and beautiful wooded views, but had to admit it had little else going for it. The bathroom was unfortunate, the case goods dated, and the space had slowly become more of a dumping ground than a destination. It had good bones and a great story, but zero hospitality.

After: Enter Coach's Getaway. We added dormers to the unfinished attic above the garage to conjure a charming bedroom where there was nothing before — its intersecting sloped ceilings lined with Craftsman-inspired built-ins for storage, sleeping, and relaxation. Downstairs, the old office became a full-on guest retreat: stone fireplace, custom oak cabinetry, a generous pullout sectional, kitchenette, dining table, and a bathroom worth writing home about. Warm, layered, and built for gathering — this one already hosted a wedding shower before the paint was even dry. It's honestly so good, you might ask, 'Bobby who?'
