Light Filled Ranch
Project Overview - One of many contenders for the official SYH motto is "Got ranch?" Midcentury limestone ranch, to be specific. Because in Bloomington, we do! We've got lots of midcentury limestone ranches, ready for updates. This gut renovation and addition on the East side perfectly exemplifies our expertise in transforming these iconic homes for modern living.
Design Solutions - Our architectural design team preserved key elements of this 2,400-square-foot home while reimagining it for contemporary family life. The two-way fireplace remains in its original spot, now serving as a pivot point between the home's original wing and a 1,000-square-foot new addition. The ranch home renovation features a thoughtful reconfiguration of space in which bedrooms flank a central public zone - kids on one end (in spaces that are close to the original bedroom footprints), with a new owner's suite on the other. Everyone meets in the middle for cooking, eating, and togetherness. The kitchen remodel maintained the kitchen sink’s original street-facing orientation, which the homeowners loved, while expanding and opening the footprint. The basement renovation includes a guest suite and TV room, accessible from the foyer stair that is also, more or less, in its original spot. While we did bid farewell to the home’s original green and pink toilets and tile, if that makes any purists sad, they might still find it all in the unfinished storage and workout area of the basement!
Outcomes & Testimonials - This Central Indiana ranch renovation comes alive with contrast, color, natural walnut and oak, and a carefully curated collection of art, books and vintage rugs. Through thoughtful architectural intervention and interior design, we've prepared this midcentury modern home for its next 75 years of family life. This project has been featured in Good Housekeeping, and the happy homeowner shares: "Susan Yeley Homes is an amazing team of designers that can help you to renovate and redecorate your home to something that you will love. They are amazing communicators and generally just lovely people. They will save you the heartache and uncertainty when working with contractors because they think of everything!"
