Fall 2021
'Tis fall! This is the season our souls start longing for hygge ("hoo-guh"), the season when decor and accessories seem to matter most of all: the cozy rugs underfoot and throws within arm's reach, the candlestick clusters, the well-placed lamps (and of course the temperature of their bulbs). Home matters in all the seasons (of course), but as the days shorten and temperatures drop, we turn inward and are grateful for circles of armchairs, reading nooks, and corner tables where we can leave out a puzzle.
New Project Reveal: I'll Take A Light[filled] Ranch Please
Appropriately enough for a Fall Newsletter focusing on hygge, we are thrilled to unveil new photographs of this midcentury limestone ranch remodel and addition that we actually wrapped up quite some time ago. The two-way fireplace sits in its original spot, the pivot point between original wing and new. We are so grateful to these homeowners to allow us to come back to photograph and remember how much we love them and the way this bright and welcoming home turned out. See more on our portfolio!
What We Are Digging: Built-in Table Nooks
Alright, we've been building in cozy dining spots for a long while: when space is tight or you want a little extra seating or tabletop, they are often the perfect solution. Right now we're designing builtin banquettes into spaces as diverse as a masculine midcentury ranch, a basement family room near Lake Lemon, a Tudor breakfast nook west of I69, and a Craftsman bungalow in Denver, with tables ranging from 72" rectangles to 72" rounds.
Local Vendor Spotlight: All Things Noggle
If you've met her you know: there's nothing not to love about our talented staff architectural designer, Leslie Noggle. What you may not know is that she comes from a whole family of artists and artisans, just down the road in Brown County. Leslie's mom Sarah Noggle weaves natural fibers into a wide variety of beautiful textiles, while her dad Dave builds everything from custom furniture to entire houses. Sister Sarabeth of Morely Press creates lovely relief and intaglio prints, and pencil drawings of both imagined and familiar worlds, while sister Chelsea paints animal portraits and makes gorgeous leather bags.
Take a drive to the Noggle studio this fall and pick up some handmade beauties to gift and to keep for yourself this holiday. There's no supply chain delay between here and Brown County! They are in the studio most weekends, but call ahead to be sure, or to make a weekday appointment. 3113 Claylick Rd., Nashville, 812-320-2916.
Project on the Horizon?
If you have a new build, renovation, and/or decorating project on the horizon, call us sooner than you think you need us! We want to work with you! Your designer should be your first call, and we do often have a waitlist.
How it works: Initial consultations happen within a few weeks of your call, during which Susan Y. meets with you to get to know you and see your space or property. She hears all your hopes and hang-ups, and offers off-the-cuff feedback and advice to help you determine next steps. If the next step for you is comprehensive design services, we pencil you in and launch your project as soon as your name rises to the top.
Happy Thanksgiving to All! May your heart be a full as your belly!
