Splash of Joy

Joy in the Everyday

Before (Before): This 1959 galley bathroom once served Susan’s young family—and it showed. It sported boring and dated finishes, a too-low vanity, and storage that was too big in some places (medicines lost in the back of the closet for years) and too small in others (how many towels can you hang on a single bar).

Before (Just Before): By the time the teens were heading to college, the space was a little sadder, a little tighter, and very much in need of some TLC. This reno is a true case of the cobbler’s kids going barefoot—until now.

After: Bright, bold, and full of function. A new skylight floods the space with sunshine, colorful tile adds energy, and a raised vanity with new sconce lighting makes everything feel just right for a trio of not-so-little kids and all the friends that come with them. It's practical, joyful, and yes—still deeply personal. It’s the kind of bathroom that makes them want to come back (even if they won’t admit it out loud).
